Journey to the Center of the Earth is an adventure board game inspired by the famous novel by Jules Verne. Players follow the footsteps of Professor Otto Lidenbrock, his nephew Axel, and the hunter Hans as they embark on an incredible expedition to the center of the planet.
The goal of the game is to create a path from an entrance volcano down to the center of the Earth and then escape through one of the exit volcanoes. Each turn, two cards are revealed: a coordinate card and a tunnel card. Players draw the tunnel on the grid cell indicated by the coordinate card.
Tunnel cards can represent straight passages, curves, water springs, discoveries, or even dangerous creatures lurking underground. Players must carefully plan their routes while adapting to the changing map.
Resources are limited during the expedition. When the tunnel deck runs out, players must spend one water point or be eliminated from the adventure. When the coordinate deck runs out, one of the exit volcanoes erupts and becomes unusable.
Players can also call upon the protagonists of the novel for help, allowing them to bend the rules and escape difficult situations. Journey to the Center of the Earth captures the spirit of Jules Verne’s legendary adventure and turns it into an exciting tabletop experience filled with exploration and strategy.
